Orange Shirt Day

Orange Shirt Day is an event that started in 2013. It was designed to educate people and promote awareness about all the residential schools and the impact this system had on Indigenous communities for more than a century in Canada, and still does today.

Jackie McDonald

Jackie McDonald

Meet one of our board members Jackie McDonald. She is here delivering fresh baked bread to her mom Ruby Mcdonald. Jackie has lived in Norman Wells for most of her life, along with a lot of her family members. The Mcdonalds are one of Norman Wells founding families. Jackie's children and grandchildren also grew up here. There have been many generations of Mcdonalds in Norman Wells, and will continue to for years to come.

VISION STATEMENT

We will achieve social and economic self-sufficiency for the Norman Wells participants of the Sahtú Dené and Métis Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement (SDMCLCA) through strong self-governance, fair access and benefit agreements, good long term financial management and sound investment in local infrastructure.
